Thread: Aftermarket HID Kits

I put HIDs in my Super Oscars, mounted on a ARB winch bar, I extended the top back, so the lights were behhind the top bar, also ran a vibration steady (made from hose clamp) from the top of light to back of top bar. Mounted the ballasts on the panel between the radiator and the headlight. Drilled a couple of holes into the headlight side panel and held in place with a couple of HD cable ties, have been in place for 2 years now. They are in behind the grill. You can see the right one, looking down through the additional bonnet clip latch hole.

Re Pics, I'll have a go tonight, but as they are behind the grill, not sure how successful I'll be.

Pics attached ... you need a little imagination to work out the shot through the bonnet catch hole, but you can see that they are mounted vertically, and clamped by cable ties.

Looks good, have you been happy with the results? What globes did you go with?

Result: B----y fantastic, made 'the best driving lights in the world' even better, and for nics..... (not trying to start driving light war!) PLUS from the look of the lights, 'just an old pair of Cibies'.
Have picked up a set of Marshal Ampilux inserts that use separate internal reflector for high beam, so will fit them when I next have the front/bar/winch/drivinglights etc all off. Probably stick with 35w 6000k units for high beam, and go for high watt low beam, then no ADR problems

I am jealous. I have been looking for a set of Ampilux inserts for years. I had a set about 25 years ago and sold them for a ridiculously low price. The last set I saw that were any good went for around $450.00 on ebay

You haven't found the 6000k to Blue?
