the paranoia you talk about... am i guessing thats just general and you dont want the runaway shutdown because of the egr blank? you just want it as a preventative measure?

I just ordered the OZ version.
$139 including delivery.
The UK version would have cost about $129 delivered, but who knows how long you have to wait for it. I can't be bothered over $10, thats for sure.
My TD5 is manual, so I will post on what difference the kit makes.

Sorry I have not responded back sooner. I am one of those suckers who spend 11 1/2 hours at work six days a week. (except for this weekend) I get to drive the Disco until I drop.
In Australia there are a few places you can get it. TombRaider has a couple coming in his next shipment of bits.
Also there is a person in Perth who has ready access to them. Mine cost $100 including blank plate and I cannot say for sure but I think TR is the same price. You could ring him. PM me for their phone numbers and more info if you want.
The EGR valve in the MY2003 for stricter emmission control has a butterfly plate in the air line along with the exhaust gas valve shaft. It is pretty restrictive on air flow at idle. As someone said it pulls a lot better off the mark and idles along really well in traffic.
As said by many in the know in lot's of other threads it is a "must do" on the TD5.

I removed the egr valve body put a core plug in the where the exhaust gas goes some loctite to help seal it up also there is no chance that it can go into the engine as the hole is alot smaller where the valve sits.
Next step was to remove the valve by cutting the valve stem and taking it out then getting a die grinder and grinding out all that excess metal so the throat is round.
the last two jobs involve the outside of the body first there is a small vent hole I tapped this hole (4mm tap I think) and screwed a small bolt into it and the last job was to fill the suction inlet with solder to stop the diaphram from moving,the good thing about this is it looks like nothing has been touched or modified from the outside;)

no mate they run away when they start breathing oil or fuel thats outside of the electronic control...
the one thats common to ALL diesels is oil leaking down the inlet valve stem.
The one thats common to Turbos is failure of the compressor side oil seal
and the one thats common to some unit injected engines is the failure of the lower seals on the injector unit.
and YAY,, the td5 has all o that.
the concept I had planned was to set it up so that hitting the "STOP NOW" button would
- 1. kill the ECU power (just in case)
- 2. Open the inlet manifold to atmosphere (cutting the boost off)
- 3. Squirt co2 into the intake manifold downstream of the opening to atmosphere
If I can work out how I might sacrafice the open to atmo for close off the manifold.
Took the Disco out for a hard drive last night to make sure all is holding together well for the trip to Perth and back this weekend plus Monday, Tuesday.
Since the removal of the EGR Valve, block off of the exhaust gas to the EGR, the Vortex muffler install and ECU Remap I have no turbo lag any more.
Floor it from a standing start and it just goes....................hard with no lag..
