    300Tdi Timing Belt Price

Gday All, Looking at a Disco 1 Auto 1996 Model with 215,000 Kms on the clock. Looks bloody neat inside and out. only problem is the bloke has done all the servicing himself. and doesnt even know what a timing belt is. so i think if we get it i will get the timing belt replaced stright away. Where would the cheapest place to get one be ?? and at what price ?? Also anything else to look out for when buying a Disco 1 Tdi Auto ?? Also how often should a Tdi300 be serviced ??
    Thanks Regards Adrian

Mines due for a timing belt soon but will be getting a mechanic to do it, they have quotes from $650 + depending on what they find inside

I drop my oil every 5K and use HPR 15

If you are anywhere near hobart justinc would be a good contact although I think he is on holidays at the moment

    Where in Tassie are you?

If in Hobart there's Justin Cooper Independant LR service at Kingston and there's also Alan Howard at British Four Wheel Drive
282a Argyle St North Hobart TAS 7000
    ph: (03) 6234 9444 .

Although Justin himself is on holiday, his business is still open.

There was another bloke out across the Tasman Bridge - I've been there some years ago but can't recall his name.

price will depend on if it has had the upgrade kit fitted ( and if indeed it needs one ). You can tell from the vin number there's a list on here somewhere.

there a two kits - a "minor' and major.
one I think is $800- 900 and the "major" kit with new timing cover and "floating" injector pump rear bracket etc was about $1500 when I had it done 3 yrs or so ago ( from memory ). This all includes fitting of course.

After that belt changes should be $450-600 fitted.

Hopefully the kit has been done so you'll only need a new belt. ( ya can get lucky sometimes )
