    Spark plug conducting grease

    Hi all.

When I remove and refit my spark plug leads I have to spray the distributor end with silicone spray in order to prevent ignition noise through the radio.

Is there a grease type prodect that I can use instead?

Something that I could use on the spark plug end as well to improve the electrical connection.

Would silver thermal paste be okay? It would be condusctive but is something else better and more appropriate?

Something is wrong if you need to do that.

I would have to agree with that
The only time ive heard of people using silicon spray or grease is to help water proof before water crossings and not as a long term thing either

Well the leads are new so unless it is the cap then there is nothing else to replace to fix the connection.
I would have thought that that part of the cap would not really wear out.

Take a look in the dark with the engine running. Any sparks will show up.

Are you talking internal rotor contacts or external lead contacts?

Also just as an aside........why do they call silicon grease 'tune up grease' if all it does is protect things from water/moisture?

Sounds like something is tracking give the cap the once over and look for fine dark marks that look a bit like cracks..Inside and out...

I seem to recall reading that one needs to use genuine LR/Lucas dizzie caps. After market ones aren't so good.

I've got a spare cap that came with the car. I'll whack that on and see what happens.

I don't know if it is genuine or not but it is blue
