    fitted oil catch can

I have fitted a oil catch can in the engine bay of my disco as most of us are aware this allows some oil to get into the intake system probably coating the inside of the intercooler with a film of gunk.

going to see if this works (hopefully)before pulling my cooler out to clean it out at the 200K service coming up.

I will see how much oil it stops in the next 12 000k's and let you know maybe it will help keep the inside of the intercooler cleaner for longer??

    Stevo,
Sounds a good idea.looking at the photos I see the catch tank is in line rather than a dead end for the fumes. With my 300TDI I am contemplating just collecting the oil and returning nothing to the incoming air.Be interested to see how much it collects.

When I removed mine at 80K there was also no sign of any oil.

I think the earlier models are more prone when I pulled my old intercooler off to fit a bigger one on there was oil in it.

Also when I pulled the hose off that goes from the tappet cover to the turbo intake it had oil in it plus there was always a film on the inside of the intake pipes used to think the turbo seal were on their way out.

Checked the catch can after a couple ok 1000K's and there is a little bit of oil in the bottom better there than in the intercooler.
