Hi All,
Can anyone tell me the bearing type and number in a Sanden Aircon Compressor SD-709 attached to my 1993 RR 3.9.
Also, if anyone has changed it before, I presume that the nut first, then with a special puller, remove the clutch ass'y, then what?
TIA
I have done similar compressors but not Sanden. I think they will be the same. In which case it is easy.
From memory: Disconnect wire, remove the hex head screw from centre of clutch, slip clutch of splined shaft (no puller required).
Then you will see the bearing inside the hub, retained by a circlip. Remove the bearing, check the number and drop into your nearest bearing supplier.
There was a thread about this a year or 2 back (someone else wanted to know how to get the clutch off) where I remember posting the bearing number, which I think turned out to be the same as for a Sanden.
To my eyes, the bearing looks like a double row ball bearing, sealed both sides. But I didn't want to stuf a good bearing by prising out the seal just to see if this is so - I have seen many bearings in my life and didn't need to satisfy any curiosity.
If you look at the clutch friction surfaces, they are metal to metal, and should appear burnished (not smooth finish). This is how they should be, so don't be alarmed/concerned.
