Have you heard about the 2.8 Ltr. international TDI it is basically a 300 TDi with a bit more stroke and a variable turbo, built in south america, same crowd manufactured the last 300 TDI for Land Rover.
I have just driven a defender with one of this engines fitted great stuff, more drivable then a td5, torque from very low revs.:D
Price is ok. when you consider that you get a complete new engine with all the ancillaries, starter motor, injection pump the lot, for around 7500.-$

Jase on this board imports the 2.8HS engines and parts from International/Navistar in Brazil, including the VNT and exhaust manifold to fit to the 300Tdi.
some sort of mechanical actuation as the 2.8 has no electronics to my knowledge.
I have the actual Garrett pt. # somewhere if you want.
I've been told by a friend that deals with insurance claims that the most commenly rolled 4wd on the market is the Parado. And from a friend that has rolled one, they don't have any fore warning sign that they may roll, it's appanently a very sudden thing.
