Um, nope. At least not at all like the Toyo 2.8 in my Landlords Hilux. Apparently they came out long before Toyota made a 2.8.
This one has 140,000 on the clock, ex depot truck, and fires up fast and smooth, no smoke, no bad noises. I just have to unfreeze the parking brake to drive her home. A 2 ton truck, soon to need a motor and gearbox.
Hmm, Landlord has a couple of spare 351 Fords around.

I saw a rangy where the owner had installed a 3.5 toyota dyna diesel. He matched the dyna bell housing to the landrover bell housing using two heavy plates and deformed tube to accommodate the shaft. It went great.
