More detail, clutch in or out? driving? what gear? on overun or acceleration, motor?
Gday guys ive got a noise like a shaft is running out of round in the box im not sure weather its in the t/case or it could be the input any body have any clues id say il replace the box with another and have a look at rebuilding this one myself![]()

Only hear it on over run and mainly notice it in 4th once crusing at any speed goes away with more right foot then comes back once its just coasting along sounds like a bearing has a worn shaft in it or the bearing it self is worn im geussing its the main shaft in the transfer ..
Mine has the exact same noise in 4th. Is there a fix for this?

In my experience the LT95 transfer is not all that quiet even when everything is in good shape, but the noise should be just an even gear whine, which may change between drive and overrun.
A change in the noise, particularly a sudden one, or an uneven gear noise, or worse, a rumbling noise, suggests one or more bearings is worn sufficiently to allow the gears to move slightly out of mesh (the rumbling is a bearing itself generating noise and is bad news, as it could presage failure in the short term). Although an experienced mechanic can listen to it and perhaps say which bearing it is, this is pretty difficult to do via a forum! But if the box has to be pulled apart for any reason it is good practice to replace all bearings and seals as a minimum (When mine was done, the rumble was the main gearbox input bearing, and all other bearings were reported as being in perfect condition - but were replaced anyway).
Probably the only exception could be if the bearings giving the problem can be shown to be the T/C idler bearings, which I think can be replaced in situ, and can be a problem - the military gearbox has taper rollers, and there is a conversion available.

just a side note....
I just had my LT95 re-built and there was some problems with syncros....
1st...they tried aftermarket...worn out quickly and couldn't go down 2 and 3rd.
2. Gen syncros...same thing
They ended up putting my original ones back in as they were good...no problems.
Seems both gen and aftermarket are the same crap quality.... more then likely from same crap factory....
cheers

Sounds like you need to get onto that taper roller box and put that in![]()
Yep tho unfortunatly i missed out it was sold![]()
But on a good note i found the problem and have fixed it it was a few loose bolts the ones that hold the low range gear to the center diff hemisphere it got to the point were 5 of the 8 had undone them selfs and had rattled out into the spedo housing on the back of the transfer luckly enough when it locked up i was only just moving as it had started to make a clunk in the drive line in any range and any gear i was slowly moving back and forth to try and see were the noise was then it just locked the driveline and busted a hole in the spedo housing i have some pics of the damage il get off my phone later but i had the spares and fixed the problem by fitting another CDL unit and spedo housing and a few new seals and she is all good to go again and i also recoed the handbreak whilst i was at it![]()
thanks Lokka and John. What plate do I remove to check if bolts have fallen out - top, bottom, back?
thanks
