There is /was an lse running around with a TD5 in it, guy on OL has done it. I wouldnt buy a td5 from a wreck unlees it was either dirt cheap or you could hear it running, that one is missing the turbo so in the end wont be that cheap.

Range-Rov have put a Td5 into a 200 Series Discovery. See photos on their website.

I'll leave the "technically possible/viable" question for the experts, but I don't see it as economically viable taking into account how much they seem to go for and how much is different on a TD5 from any previous diesel or petrol model.
I like the TD5's in the cars they come in, but not enough to spend many (many) thousands putting them in something they don't!
IMO the only engine for a Rangie is a V8 full stop. I know there's plenty getting around with diesels fitted and each to there own, just plain sacralidge and it's just not cricket :(:(:(
A Land Rover as great as a Rangie deserves a fuel guzzling morsel such as a V8 :twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:.

IMHO if you were going to transplant a TD5 (as in transplant as instead of as apposed to transplant to replace) into some thing the only thing that it would be viable into would be the Deefer as theres the room to move and place things in without having to worry about the aircon powersteering pumps etc etc.. and if it was going into an already r380'd deefer in theory the original box would bolt on and not need drastic mods to the firewall.
Youd want it with its mating gearbox and tcase as well IMHO.
But I wouldnt want to do it other than for a just to proove it can be done exercise the TD5 is a freaking expensive lump of technology and not easily repaired once shot.
Speak to Bundalene about it, I was going to buy a TD5 and auto off him for my 93 Disco V8, when he realised what I was going to put it in he talked me out of it, I would have needed the almost complete wiring loom, incl. the computers and the ABS system because the computers read road speed from the ABS sensors, big job but with the cost of fuel it might be worthwhile, Regards Frank.Quote:
