    Give me a break!!!

    99 TD5 Auto

My pice of crap has given me another problem tonight.

This month I have had alternator averhauled, had the SLS compressor die, the good ole ABS/TC/HDC light on twice and now my car is running like a bunny rabbit.

If I put my foot down it starts to surge and die repeatedly. If I drive it mildly its OK. This can happen from take off or crusing.

Seems to me like a fuel issue, but I have not filled up recently and tank is half full. I checked for water in diesel filter, but seems OK.

    Any ideas???

Sometimes they overboost and the symptoms are as you have stated as the power is cut. It'll do it over a certain number of revs with a certain amount of throttle. It does just come randomly and is a PITA.

If you put your foot down when driving, and the engine will not rev high, try the mass air flow meter.( try a mates one first as they are not cheep!!!)

Try cleaning the MAF sensor and checking the intercooler hoses, along with the EGR.

    Oil in the injector harness

    check the EGR modulator

    Fuel sensor.

Also check that the rubber O ring on the top of the old fuel filter hasn't been left on when the new filter was replaced, this has happened to me, it means that it has 2 O rings and will suck air causing surging.

I know its not oil in the harness. I also know that with the rebuild of the alternator the auto elec must have disconnected eEGR pieces because when I had faults cleared with the ABS/... it also had faults to do with the EGR etc stored, but they were cleared along with all other stored faults at the time.

This problem started occuring about 2/3 the way through a 250 KM trip yestereday. We were out driving through Litchfield National park and just as we hit the bitumen on the way home, bingo, the problem started.

If its turbo hoses delaminating I would also get alot of black smoke??. The MAF sensor appears to be clean as is the filter. I have a snorkel fitted
