Anyone removed a bulkhead - Defender

    Hi,
I am considering removing the bulk head from the Defender due to corrosion, can it be done with out removing the roof, any other points to consider

yeah it can but you have to strip the whole front end off, ITs easier to take it out with the roof off IMHO (or at least unbolt it all the way to the back then hinge it up about 3 feet at the front)

Thanks Dave, how about the hood lining, is it as bad as they say to keep it in place. Currently mine is perfect.

the hood lining will be a PITA....

fix the corrosion problem first then burn that bridge when you get to it...

taking out the firewall would be a big job no matter how you do it.

One issue is the fuse box - you would have to disconect and pull out the engine loom and everything. The wiring goes through a fairly small appiture in the firewall so it would be difficult to leave the fuse box behind.
