G'day All
I've been watching this thread out of pure interest. My understanding of the brakes on LandRovers before owning one was that they were crap.
My fender has 4 2 pot lockheed calipers on it with some very questionable solid disks.
They always seem to work extremely well.
I guess what I'm getting at is that after JC changed my rears (due to reaching thier wear limit) for DBA ventilated they still work extremely well.
The front disks I suspect are just about cactus and I'll also swop them for vented DBA's
If they work as well as they do at the moment I'l be a happpy man :D
Dave, I'd be interested in your thoughts/comments
side note to this... (I cant remember IF ive mentioned it before but Its relevant to this thread)
IF you have a vacume actuated CDL on a diesel engine and that pipe gets disconnected or holed you will have exactly the same symptoms and you will have a CDL that wont change position to boot.
Split diaphragm will do it as well, but at least you should hear the air leak there.
2.8 ton LWB F100, driving quite fast, my turn off looms, press pedal, funny pop and sucky sound, "Oh dear not gonna stop in time".:(
It's good to know you found and fixed your problem.
Don't winge about LR brakes,we could all drive half ton heavier toyota's with SINGLE piston rear brakes. Pat
