How to test a maxi drive??

On a recent trip I noticed the rear Maxi drive light was flickering when engaged and the car was moving forward. When i stopped, it would stay on. I had been told when I had it installed that "if the light is on then the locker is working - if its not, then there is a problem" I have checked all the vacuum lines etc and cannot see anything wrong ( doesnt mean much though)... so I suppose my question is; is there a way to ckeck if the locker is functioning correctly? I am a bit "mechanically challenged" so any help would be appreciated..

I would say the wire to the light has a bad connection or the engaged switch is out of adjustment..

chock all 4 wheels and then jack up one of the wheels driven by the locker in question.

select nuetral on everything and release the hand brake

disengage the locker and the turn the raised wheel by hand at this point it should turn.

now with someone else in the driving seat, start the engine (foot on clutch as applicable and engage the locker then go and rotate the wheel by hand again it should now move a little to take up driveline slop and then stop turning by hand
