ABS Fault Code 2-3 - what does it mean ??

I have just done a manual "Blink Code" diagnostic of my ABS light.

What does ABS Fault Code 2-3 mean ??
The codes I have start from 2-6 and upwards.

Not to worry have reset this now.

    - To reset Codes during "blink test" - just pull out the Pin-4(negative wire) connection and let the code redisplay one more time. It will then reset that code.
After turning ignition on/off again re-insert pins in ABS ECU and it will show any other codes that have built up over time. You can note these and reset the same way continuing until no codes left to show.

(double geek) - help if you know something about comupting. The codes are like reading diagnostics on old mainframe computer tape drives !!

You have me interested in this. Does this apply to Discovery 2 models?

I have the 3 Amigos and my son, who is an auto 'lecky on buses, asked me why land rover don't seem to use codes for diagnosing ABS faults.

I can't tell you what I went through to find all the issues with just getting to the codes as well as then fixing each and then resetting them !! The D2 may obviously be slightly different - but there is a way - no doubt about it.
The dealers and Rover will never let it all out easily but eventually (like any knowledge) - seek and it's found.

Being a computer nerd of the biggest variety with over 20 years travelling the world to teach people. I recognised that the main issue is really just resetting the ECU codes that have built up and keeping these lights on - just like switches. When resetting these codes - it will turn off those nuisance lights.

Let me explain without too much detail - just like any computer malfunction a 'sense code' problem can be just a once-off occurance and by resetting you can continue running as normal !!

I will point you in the direction for reading diagnostics and fixing any real issues related to warning lights - for your Disco. I will search some more details for D2 and hope to post back.

There are literally 3 items you need to find and have ready.

    1) Find out where is your "ABS Warning Relay" -
Some notes: My 1996 D1 V8i has it under the glovebox (Australia - right hand drive). I beleive TDi's maybe different and pictures from LandRover RAVE manaul may show it mirrored for left hand drive.

    2) Find out where the ABS "ECU" connector plug is ??
My 96 D1 has it under the dash on the drivers side - just above your left shin when its on the footrest.

    3) Follow the procedure of "earthing" the ABS code sensor pin on the ECU.
On the 95 and 96 D1 Disco it seems the ABS diagnostic pin is "pin-15" (and pin-4 is the earth pin).
    PROCEDURE for D1 Disco:

    - then reset the codes.
To reset Codes using "blink test" :
    1) After noting the codes - Pull out the Pin-4 (negative wire) connection and let the code redisplay one more time - you will see the ABS light will eventually stop flashing. This means that fault code has been erased/reset.

    2) Follow the steps of turning ignition to OFF then to ON again.
    - Re-insert the pins in ABS ECU and it will show any other codes that have built up over time.
You can note each these and reset (repeating this same way until no codes left to show).

The ABS light will eventually just do the 1 -1 code and show no more codes.
