I ran a thread re shocks for a D2 a few weeks ago and EVERY reply was to get Billies with longer shafts ( i have a 2" lift also).

Rancho's and Toughdogs got a fair pasting regarding longevity and ride quality.

Up to you, but I tend to listen to the advice of the experienced horde.

I'll add my vote too.... while I've had no direct experience with the tough dogs... heard nothing but bad reports... I'm very happy with my billies...

Only reason I can see for so many people using Bilsteins... is they are good....cause they are not the cheapest option....

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

2015 TDV6 D4.... the latest project... Llams, Traxide, Icom 455, Tuffant Kimberleys and Mofos.... so far.
2012 SDV6 SE D4 with some stuff... gone...
    2003 D2a TD5...gone...
    2000 D2 V8...gone...

Hi guys, thanks for the advice I did assume there was going to be a lean towards the billies. I fitted the billies when i had standard height front springs and air bags in the rear. and i have to say although i am no expert or have driven heaps of other discos but the other ones I have driven had had raised springs and long travel tough dog shocks and seemed to handle better on and off road, they were alot smother and had better rebound controll when hitting large potholes. My Disco on the other hand has Billies and a 2 inch lift but when I hit a large pothole the rebound is almost dangerous and very loud. I too was convinced to fit billies 2 years ago but now not so sure. Could it be simply the valving on the billies is wrong ? if so what is the correct valving rates for a disco with Heavy duty springs, bulbar ( no winch).

    cheers.
