3 bolt pinion flange centralising peg thread?

Dont bother with the heat use a 5in grinder and cutoff wheel (one of the thin turbo wheels works best) cut 3 cuts into it on the flats between the bolt holes as ddep as you can without hittint the diff case then give it a few belts with a hammer on the sides of the pin to loosen it up then i use a 8mm bolt a peice of chain about a foot or so long with a heavy weight on it as a slide hammer and belt it out that way they come out a peice of pi55 and the cuts and the few wacks on the sides loosen it up takes about 10 min all up to get it out :D:D:D:D

Same, just hit it with the angle grinder.

I'll keep the butchery in mind but I'll give pulling it out a go first.

I can definately say that the bolt required to pull the spigot is an M8 1.25 pitch.

My Disco is now a front wheel drive though as I ran out of light this afternoon before I could attempt to pull the spigot.

Well I have done it!

This afternoon I finished the job. The centre pin thing was a breeze to pull out. Admittedly it has been out before as about 8 months ago I had a rear locker fitted so probably easier to pull out than one that has been in place for 10 years.

I'll post a picture of my pull job later when I get back home.

However it is interesting how you can measure what bolts you need for the rear flange so you know you need 4 10x25mm bolts and then go to the shops and find the 10x25mm bolts. Then you go home and fit the 10x25mm bolts. Only to find out after you have fitted them (in the dark) that they are actually 10x35mm bolts and they hit the mud deflector and push it into the diff housing!
I pulled all the bolts out and put a washer under each bolt head to sort that out but I'll cut them down one day. :angel:

I didn't have a socket big enough to go over the centre pin (my box only goes to 30mm) and I was scratching my head on what I could use. Then it occurred to me that the 4 bolt flange would be perfect!

I needed to add the multigrips into the equation as I ran out of thread in the centre pin hole.

You can't see it but in the second pic the centre pin has been pulled and is under the 4 bolt flange.
