Thumbs up New MAF, Plugs, Dis/Rotor,Wires. Still running rough

OK: Looking for suggestions. I have a 98 Disco Series 1 It goes ok but was/is running very rich. Changed plugs, wires, dis cap and rotor and put in a new/rebuilt MAF. Ran great for 10Km but is now back to that slight rough running especially in traffic. It's got plenty of power (140K on the clock) but there's a bit of valve rattle when I accelerate. I changed the oil last week and had the timing set up again. the idle is erratic and it's still running rich?
Any ideas or do I just live with it.....

Check my earlier post (in this post) and check out the IAC valve on the back of the plenum chamber, Regards Frank, Merry Christmas.

What Tank said, but also check the security of it's plate to the plenum. Seems a common thing for these to be loose.

It may need removing & resealing.

any chance you've got a faulty temp sensor and it isn't coming of cold start enrichment?

And in addition to all the above, the thermostat needs to be operating correctly. I'd replace every year as they aren't expensive.

Hey Shanoss, dod you ever get to the bottom of your idle problem?
I'm still having exactly the same issue on mine, would LOVE to get it sorted.
    Cheers, Pete.

Hi Pete, Mine still does it very occasionally, but only for a couple of seconds and only if its a stinking hot day. Have you tried cleaning the contact points and given them a twist?

    Rough idle.

Yes, I have tried so many things now it is getting frustrating.
It will idle fine for awhile and then all of a sudden drop in revs and begin running rough/missing, only to suddenly return to normal idle again at random moments.
Mine seems to run better in hot weather for some reason.
I have cleaned the Air Flow Meter plug contacts, which did seem to help for awhile, but it has not completely solved the problem.
I also cleaned the ECU plug contacts, put a new distributor cap on, rotor, new good quality leads, new plugs, new coil, nothing has worked so far.
I might have to resort to taking to a mechanic for diagnosis.
I'm still open to suggestions though!
    Cheers, Pete.
