the good oil
searched threads the other day for info on choice oils for a petrol/lpg Auto D1, such about early series transfer cases....
I am gradually changing out all the fluids on my newly acquired disco, and want to do the right thing by it.
will the auto take to synthetic oil? what's best to run in it?
synthetic oil in the transfer case?
special coolant requirements for the alloy block engine?
PS fluid?
re greasing front hubs tomorrow too

Answering this question could be as dangerous as a few days ago the thread "narrow VS wide tyres"
as most people have greatly different opions on oils and coolants.
However penrite semi synthetic is in the engine of my Disco and penrite full synthetic is in the Auto trans.
So one vote for Penrite.

I would put full synthetic no matter what brand you end up going with in the Auto and semi synthetic in the transfer case and a good semi synthetic in the engine would not hurt either.

All my bikes I just used a mineral oil with no friction modifiers, dumped it every 5 and oil and filter every 10000km.
what sort of life could you expect out of a semi synthetic engine oil (running LPG, 350km highway commute per week)?
