TD5 EGR Blanking Plate Kit, is this true

    Is this true:

Landrover Discovery 2 / Defender TD5 EGR Blanking Plate Kit.
Contains 1 x 4mm Laser Cut Blanking Plate, Gasket and 2 x Stainless Steel longer bolts
If you've noticed your Td5 is pumping out black smoke particularly when starting up or changing gear. Or if your engine doesn't quite have the same power that it did, one reason for this is the EGR valve ( Exhaust Recirculation Valve) which was designed to reduce emissions by recycling and burning off exhaust gases through the engine. In fact the EGR valve can cause your engine to become clogged up with grease, oil and soot, particularly if the EGR sticks open and consequently increases your Land Rovers emissions.
If this sounds like your Land Rover then our EGR blanking plate might be the solution. Designed to prevent waste gases and sludge re-entering the engine. Fits easily between the EGR valve and exhaust manifold, this product is simple to install, and requires no specialist tools or engine modification. Some of the benefits reported after fitting a blanking plate include: reduction in black smoke, increased power, disappearance of flat spot, and smoother acceleration although we cannot guarantee these improvements.

Still waiting for my kit from the UK. It will be 3 weeks on Monday. Damn annoyed with you Royal Mail UK, or Australia Post, whichever of you ba$tards has lost it. I'm also well aware of the UK Postal strike but this was posted well before this kicked in.

Hi all, yep saw a little on this some where on the forum. Mine also sprayed oil on the batt. box
It looked so good I went to the local Roobar maker, got the alum.flat and a bit of pipe, $5.00 I cut the right size hole in the flat alum. had it welded by a friend $5.00,then made up the stainless bit for the manifold from some scrap. presto! 4hours and 10 bucks .Job done...the only problem was cleaning in the inlet manifold.. so left it as was..still goes ok and no oil on batt.box..it has to be a winner.. Thank you for the idea..what a good forum we have...robert42..the name is bob and born in 1942..

But what about the intercooler air inlet end of the EGR? Surely this must also be modifed to eliminate airflow
problems? I see TD5 Alive (UK) has kits that modify both ends.
Now where do we put the vacuum dependent and water cooler hoses from the EGR on the later EU3 d2 engine?
    2003 D2a Auto TD5 good Landy gone
2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?
