    Fuel Gauge Movement

    93 RR 3.9 ZF LPG/Petrol.

Does anyone who has a RR or Disco have this happen:

Say you are driving on gas and your petrol gauge indicates 3/4 full on the knocker. Click it over to gas and the petrol gauge appears to gain fuel by a needles thickness or a poofteenth more. Same the other way, on gas and when switched over to petrol, petrol gauge indicates a bit less.

My question is should there be such a large change to the indicated level when petrol is on/off?

Is this a sign of a dodgy fuel pump? or is this normal??

    TIA

Sounds to me more like a dodgy earth on the gauge!

No fuel guage is any where near accurate unless you work out on the same level surface what each incriment means as they are operated by a float in the tank, nothing to do with the fuel pump.

As JD said it could possibly be something like a loose earth but I wouldnt be all that fussed about it.

Certainly not normal - my 3.9 D/F D1 has doesn't have that issue.
I tend to watch the fuel gauge like a hawk so I'm sure I'd notice
The gauge needle in mine must have a weight on the end of it
