My 94 model has one (mine doesn't leak though nyah nyah)
AFAIK all the V8s had them. The RAVE CD just says that the V8s have them and the Tdis don't. No mention of specific years.
Giving the old girl a good seeing to today& noticed the multi-port heater valve is leaking from the centre sliding actuating spindle.
(Valve is located on Driver's side along the top of the block.)
Valve is the typically sealed plastic job but I wondered if anyone has had one of these to pieces & know what leaks & can it be bodged, eerrrrr, repaired?
To my simple mind, it probably is an O ring seal around the spindle that has let go/worn & can the valve can be dismantled without buggering it up completely?
What did later D1s use, as I was told some years ago by a Stealer that it had been deleted. True/False?

I shudder to think what a replacement would cost.
Atm, it has a nice dollop of HT grease over the gubbins.
Wishful thinking? Probably.![]()
Does it leak regardless of whether it is on or off?
Perhaps turn your heater on slightly. Just enough to open the valve and see if releasing the pressure (creating flow) stems the leak.

Seems to. It hasn't been used for a week or more & it was weeping away.
It puddles on the engine block somewhere, so when I jacked the front up & put stands under, it ran down like I had a major leak. Right in my mush.![]()

Scouse,
Do you know if it was just deleted or if there was something that replaced it?
I have wondered why they bothered using it at all if the Tdi has the same heater but no water valve.
This raises the question again if it was just deleted in the later V8s.
If it was just deleted then maybe 4bee should just remove it and join the heater pipes (or get the later ones). Also would need to plug the vacuum switch hose.
The valve was deleted & new hoses introduced as a result.
I'm not sure if it could be removed without affecting anything. It's worth a try if you ask me.
A new valve is only $50 or so (and that's from a dealer).
