Question more on that EGR bypass kit?

In the middle of fitting the kit.
I have removed the EGR valve to be replaced by pipe in kit.
I have the later setup with the heat exchanger, instructions say to remove pipes either end of heat exchanger and leave it there.
The exhaust manifold blanking plate in the kit will fit onto the inlet manifold end of the heat exchanger leaving the unit still connected to exhaust but blanked off.

Question; any reason why I can't do this?

It looks a bit neater than the exchanger just sitting there
    open.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

if you take the heat exchanger out you have to do something with the coolant pipes that feed it...

one idea is to leave the cooler in place and turn it into a water heater of sorts...

makes sense to me, theres a small cavity in the left side wing that could probably hold 3-5L of fluid and would be high enough that convection heating would keep the water flowing through the cooler.
