No wonder the pre-delivery costs are so high!!
There is no 100% known cure, but some are.
1 Use full synthetic oil so the oil does not carbonise
2 Drive it hard every now and then
3 My theory. In about 1994 LR fitted teflon stem seals to the inlet and exhaust valves to help cut emissions. The later engines with these seals seem worse. I have had teflon seals put on my car on the inlet valves but not exhaust. So it may help if you do not have seals put on the exhaust guides if and when the heads are serviced. You will use very little extra oil as most oil is used down the inlet guides because of the low pressure in the inlet manifold.
4 the head service is simple and cheap. It's the labour to remove and replace that makes it expensive.
