    interesting dave, but is it common, I wasnt aware there was a plastic version around.

    its more common on vehicles that get their servicing neglected or operate in conditions where they are likely to get crud on the belt.

    Ive seen a half dozen on fords and a couple of ricer vehicles but thats the first one IVe seen from a rover. most of the rover ones Ive seen have siezed the bearing from high heat killing the lube in it then spinning the plastic pully on whats left of the bearing untill it lets go totally.
