    Advice on Spring rate please

    G'day all,
    I'm replacing 4 shocks, 2 front springs and my steering damper on the D2 with 2" lift Lovells. I've got a steel winchbar (no winch yet but one is on the cards at some point), three quarter roof rack, and an ability to load heaps of ##ap when going offroad/camping.
    My question is this, do i go for a heavy duty front spring now, or is the ride quality going to be terrible untill the extra weight of the winch is added? Realistically the winch is probably a year away at best.
    Forgot to add, the rear is SLS

    Just my opinion, based on personal experience. The winch adds about 40kg (with steel cable....less with plasma) and I've found it has very little impact on standard rated springs (I have a 2" lift also). Get some advice from a suspension specialist who REALLY knows about Disco's before you go 'heavy duty' or you'll not only get a harder ride, you may also lose wheel travel. Not exactly what we all aim for.

    I'd go the HD springs now.

    Personally, I don't think that light springs support a D2 well enough, especially with a steel bar and winch. It seems that about 220-230lb is about where you need to be for that load to prevent sagging back down to a standard ride height with your raised springs.

    I had Lovells RFR32 on my D2 with just the bar, but when a winch was added there was soon very little bump stop clearance. RFR32HD gave a little more clearance than there had been with RFR32 and no winch, although a bit more clearance wouldn't go astray as the axle still sometimes hits the bump stops.

    Thanks Greame, do you still have the Lovells in your Disco? How do you find them? With the HD springs was your articulation adversely effected?
