    TD5 EGR Removal - I think it works !

Well, yesterday I received my EGR Kit from TD5 Alive in the UK. Posted 24th September, I received it on the 25th October. 1 month and 1 day !! By Airmail !
Anyway, I was getting very ansy about not receiving it, so I had made my own custom blanking plate for the exhaust manifold, and cleaned up the existing EGR valve and put it back into service. This was last week, and I don't believe I found the driveability or the performance any different.

Last night, however, I replaced my custom blanking plate with the TD5 Alive version, and replaced the EGR valve with the new aluminium straight-through pipe.

I only took it on a 10 minute drive, but in that time I do believe that it has made a slight improvement in torque. My vehicle is a Disco 2 manual, and it seems to have a bit better pickup, particularly when going through a roundabout in 3rd gear.
Am taking it on a weekend away shortly so will be able to comment on driveability and fuel economy benefits later on. However it does seem to me that the EGR valve itself does pose a restriction, and its good to get rid of it.

As a side note, the inlet manifold was disgusting, and I cleaned it out the best I could, but I'm glad that putrid EGR system is gone.

    Cheers
    Chris

I have fitted the Td5Alive stuff as well. Although I did not notice any improvements in performance or such I do feel better knowing my engine doesn't suck in all the muck any longer.

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

in theory you should only experience an improvement if your existing EGR is failing, be it the butterfly not opening fully or the EGR port not sealing.

but the single biggest benefit is the removeal of the crud entering the inlet of the donk.

1.5hrs to remove one of the hex bolts. It is now all off. Now to replace the buggered bolt and put it all together again. My EGR valve was jammed. Inlet manifold was very dirty.
