    ,92 D1 query from Iceland.......................

where the poster is not getting much luck on another forum.
    Can anyone here help?

    Thanks.

Recently the fan/heater in my 1992 LH DR, V8 Disco is becoming very noisy. This is an on and off thing, sometimes it´s there sometimes not. At times it depends on how hard I make the fan blow or even a bump in the road. The sound is coming from the heater assembly, not the motor itself. Anybody have an idea what I can do ? I removed the panel in front but removing the heater assembly seems pretty complicated and a task I do not wish to undertake unless I have no other choice. I have the parts catalogue and I am ref. to page L20/L21. Anybody have a quick fix ?

Easy - Leaves in the blower unit - Undo 3 odd screws and drop the motor /circular fan out. Then use compressed air to reverse blow anything else caught in the vents out thru the hole where the motor should go. EDIT : Pardon Moi: I'd swear I saw 95 instead of 92 - anyway, the compressed air idea is still a go - whatever is caught in the fan should reverse blow out.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't pre-facelift fans more difficult to get at than the '95 facelift which are a piece of **** & drop out as you suggest?

you may well be right as i believe that the earlier heater cores are a dash out job ,whereas post 95 can be done easier!

Thanks & that's his problem you see. Can't find anyone to tell him how to get to the fan.

Semtex & a slow fuse may help though.

on my 93 tdi disco.i had much the same thing take the windscreen wipers off.the black plastic cover from under the windscreen rubber, and a few other bits that i can't remember now and you will see a plate bolted down about 200mmx100.remove this and you should see the fan. i dont think you can remove it from here but you can check for rubbish etc.
