    Ignition problems, TD5 / 110

    Hi,
My ignition switch is starting to turn itself off whilst driving of rough roads. It will also turn itself off after you start the motor. The motor will start and then if you let go of the key quickly it will then turn to the Acc position.

Is this problem a simple fix, I.E. justa bit of oil somewhere or a spring a bit weak OR do i need to order a new ignition switch?

    Cheers

I would think you will need a new ignition barrel. I think that the pin that holds it in place is worn. Not sure if you can just replace the pin and housing for the barrel.

and you may want to lighten your keyring.......if you have too many keys......

having too much weight dangling off the ignition will wear out the barrel........
ie.....having keys for two or three different cars......houses......sheds.....work......etc..... .all together on one bunch.....along with bottle openers and other keyrings........

From memory, the ignition switch is similar to the one used on the Classic RR.
If so, chances are that the crimping lugs have become loose & allowing the plastic switch body to move around.
They can be successfully recrimped to save replacing the switch (multigrips work for me ).
