Its not important, as it depends on relevent location of the rotor button to No. 1 lead at TDC, as in so long as it was timed right
If your just replacing leads, just put them on where they come off![]()
I had a good look a my Workshop manual regarding the ignition leads setup on page 6 of section 86 in the Electrical section. It pictures the top of the distributor cap with numbers and LH or RH side positions for the leads in relation to the side clips/clamps.
The thing is, my leads are set up in exactly the same order but of set by one step anti-clockwise.
WM Picture starting from the 6 o'clock position in anti clockwise order:
1LH (with clip to the left), 2RH, 7LH, 5LH, 6RH(12O'CLOCK with clip to the right), 3LH, 4RH, 8RH.
MINE: 8RH(with clip to the left), 1LH, 2RH, 7LH, 5LH(with clip to the right), 6RH, 3LH, 4RH.
What I want to know is, how important is it to have the leads setup exactly like it is in the workshop manual and in relation to the clamps/clips on the dizzy cap?

........................& if you buy a set with number tags on them, double check that they will actually route through the various insulating spacer bars to the relevant plug.
I bought a set, & they were numbered, but no way would they fit as per numbers.
Solution was to remove the tags (wtf!) & check the lengths before selecting the right ones. Even then, I had to get the coil lead replaced as no way did that length fit & this is a standard 3.9 V8.
Ok. I thought that would be it. Cheers mate.
I still haven't got that Heater core fitted Rovercare. Will get it done before next winter. Marty Rynsent says g'day!
Give him a hi back for us
Not happy with Brenton Muir, charged me with unregistered vehicle
Little neat red corolla(my missus' sister needed a cheap car after coming back from europe), WITH unregistered permit, within the hours and guidelines, driving home from work the morning I was booked in for a roadworthy, now I'd taken the car to work as I'd just tuned it, cause it wouldn't run and being a shift worker the only time to test it before roadworthy was that night on the way to work.......Pulled my up the following morning...........Try to do your best doing the right thing and he goes and does that
Was booked in for RWC at 1110 THAT morning, he might not have liked my attitude, as I wanted to go to bed and kindly pointed that out
Ahh well, i'll be contesting it, have a RWC acquired THAT DAY, the permit, a letter from the sis, and copy of reg in her name, a few days later, see what a mag. has to say
Ooop's bit of track..........get any better quotes on the core??
