I have Dobinson springs and shocks. They have performed great. Excellent value for money. Under $800 for the lot, fitted myself.
Hi,
a bi over the sagged OME 40mm lift HD coils with the steel bar, winch and 2 batteries
Rang Dobinson today and inquired about coils.
As all salesman do they sai their 45mm lift HD coils will not sag, sit higher and be the Ducks N*ts.
Any members had any experience with them?
Cheers

I've fitted quite a few sets on defenders, and are a good thing. BUT they have , as you found out, pretty average 'cataloging' and sales info.
Give Andrew or John a call at LRA in Thomastown, 94644094. They have about 13 different rates for LR's, and these are the most common ones I use now.
I have them on my Rangie, and after plenty of outback tripping and offroading I'm very happy with them.

Here is an extract from D2Au
I did an extensive amount of research on suspension for the D2 a while back, and the thoughts are that suspension packages that are around 220-230lb/in are required for bar, winch etc to prevent sag. When I originally bought the OME779 front springs, they were
already slight presagged by xxxx, but I still netted a
healthy 1.5" lift with the ARB bullbar (no winch). Then I fitted a
winch and my nett lift was reduced to 1" and over time this sagged
more and I was back to factory ride height. So my rear was starting
to look high with the nose down look which I didn't like. So I
pulled the OME779 out and fitted a set of Dobinsons 220lb/in springs
and I got back to about 1.5" lift.
also this from D2Au
These are pre-settle measurements though. Also what springs on the front of a 7 seater with SLS are a good
match? I think the Dobinsons I previouly had would be too high as
they gave about 70mm lift(550mm hub to guard).

Yes you are right JC could or would not tell me any spring rates I like the ride of the OME springs and am a little worried the Dobinsons may be a bit harsh.
Thinking I may try them any way I am open to suggestions if any one has any as to what they are running and are happy with.
I would like springs that work off road yet don't sag. I am not after scary height just want to run my 265/75 tyres without rubbing and keep the excellent drivability with out going to high or harsh.
Cheers
I run Dobinsions Spring in my Rangie and love them the ride is heaps better then it used to be with the OME springs i had and they have not saged at all.
hi mate ,
my bro has a 4in lift w dobs springs and firefox shocks under his gu and the combination is brill, go for it
D2 TD5 Auto with bullbar only weighs 1.1T front, and 1.2T rear with a full fuel load. This includes alxe weight.
Here is LRA's spring rate/length/ride height chart.

Dobinsons springs all around in my 130. Seem to be good. However very dissapointed with customer service. To cut a long and drawn out story short the heavy duty 110 or 130 rear coils in their catalouge don't fit into 130 top spring mount , 22mm thick spring dosen't fit into a 19mm gap - result - spring dosen't seat into top of spring mount. After this was pointed out to them they made a redesigned set with tapered turns at the top to fit in correctly. I suspect 110 models may not be as "heavey duty" in the rear end as 130 models , there seems to be an extra piece welded into top spring mount on my 130.
