    Unhappy 98 v8i starting wows

    Hay guys / ladies

    iv got a prob w my 98 v8i disco starting, ive replaced the dizzy cap and rotor but to aval its turning over ok but just not firing any ideas guys

    have you checked it for spark at the plugs for starters?

    Assuming you havent and it is have you got all the leads on in the correct order?

    is this a new thing or only since you replaced the dizzy cap...

    Assuming that you fault found to the electrical system (you checked out that the fuel was getting to the injector manifold first right?)

    pull one plug and one plug lead, place them directly on the coil and earth the plug try it again...

    If that fires ok then the problem is between the coil and the plugs.

    belivr it or not it turned out to be the dizzy pick up springs had disloged themselves it seems the cur clip that holds down the rotor stem had come off "go figure"

    You have broken a retaining clip on the dizzy shaft by pulling on the rotor too vigorously.
    If the rotor is stuck you should break it with a pair of pliers.

    thanks phil, yhea is that what u call it mmmm u learn somthin every day hay, ive fix it, that was the problem,
    but do you think you could get a second hand retainer from "the land rover guys here in hervey bay", ive just move here and ive been told nothing but good things about there service!! mmmmm maybe after ive spent a bit more money there thay will be more reseptive
