Just do it mate. 33% will be fine in yours. Trust me it makes a huge differance in the ease of tackling obstacles.

Most of the guys I 4WD with that have manuals have fitted reduction gears to low range. It makes a huge difference. It's probably worth checking to see if the 49% will go into the D2 transfer. I don't think they fit all LT230's due to gear type. The 33% definately go in.

I find that a D2 auto in low 1 is very bloody slow allready?

Is the manual as slow?

Hate to think how slow it would be with reduction gears installed, you'd be catching up to snails eventually.

I think the bigger problem is that when things get rough, you just put your foot down some more in an auto and keep going, where a manual stalls. The crawlers make it a lot easier for them to pull through.

You've been in my old manual on 32s it could have really used 4.11s and 33% reduction gears.... gota look at tyre size to dobbo, as soon as you increase the tyre diameter not only does it put the gearing out but also makes it heavier to turn, i used to stall on 32's alot trying to crawl up things.

49's are too damn slow for anything but the most ridiculous rock crawling....
