    D110 - Aftermarket front seats

    G'day Guys,

Anyone installed aftermarket seats in their Defender?

I have a set of Bucket / Sports seats I wish to install in my D110 and want to try and use the original mountings, so anyone had any experiences of this?

Grizzley has fitted some from memory.......it would be good to make them hinge so you could still access under the seats

My old County had Honda Accord seats fitted by the previous owner. The seat rails hinged at the back so you could access the underseat compartments.

The mod was uncomplianced when I bought the vehicle but I had no trouble getting a compliance plate.

I have some from Exmoor Trim in the UK that use the same bolts holes as original, though as Weeds rightly points out they would be much better if they hinged somehow so I could still get to the compartments underneath the seats easily.

Clarkie changed his passenger seat for a bucket type seat in his old 110. He might have some pointers.

What about some sort of split pin arrangement so you can lift the seat out for access (much like sports cars to remove casualties).

Also, to make life easier & more comfortable, stick a couple of lengths of 20mm box section between the rails & seat box. That way, you should raise the rails high enough to let the rails slide over the lip on the bulkhead & give you better leg room.

Attached a couple of pics of the current 110 project I'm doing. Note the handbrake extension plate. The seatbox was lowered to fit 2x 95 Rangie seats. This was a proper job and there are approx 8mm aluminium plates fitted on top.
I cant offer much more info as this was done before I purchased it.
