How do I know if a D2 has ACE?

Firstly, I should say I'm trying to assess a vehicle (my first LR) without seeing it

I'm not sure the owner knows, but how can I know if a 1999 Discovery 2 has ACE fitted? or how can they tell me?

Look under the hood the ACE fluid bottle should be right next to the power steering fluid bottle and the one closest to the front should say power steering and the one next to it should say ACE if it has ACE.

There is also a hydraulic ram under the driver front wheel arch at the front, and also a big aluminium looking block with pipes coming out of it everywhere under the drivers side sill, hanging off the side of the chassis.

    Hi Shanep
As AK says, ask them to look at the power steer bottle.
    Its a single unit,but has a double compartment.It has 2 lids,non ACE vehicles only have 1 lid.
As Slunnie said get them to look behind the drivers front wheel, the hydraulic ram is quite easy to spot.

Is it a really big deal if the vehicle doesn't have ACE? The D2 will just drive like any other 4wd, generally speaking, right?

The ACE gives a little more articulation off-road,but the best is the on road handling, you can push them pretty hard around bends/roundabouts.
Even the handbrake picked up on it when we got the Rangie for her,she said it doesnt feel safe around roundabouts(we have a couple in town).
I asked her just how fast has she been punting my D2 around them
