    New suspension a vast improvement

I had a busy day on saturday installing my new Lovells suspension, had a bit of drama getting the airbags to reinflate only to find the back door was'nt fully closed. Worked this out when i'd had enough and was packing up for the day feeling a bit fed up!!! So all good in the end.
I found i needed spring compressors to get the Heavy Duty 2" lift springs in but i may have been doing things the hard way.
The Disco is noy sitting 75mm higher than it was and so far, on road anyway, things feel 200% better.
Only downside is that i now have very little clearance under the garage door and when the roofrack goes on......
    don't think it will fit
Now i need to get it dirty

Looks good,, is that the 4x4DE kit? looks the same as what i had, i actualy extended my sensor spacers by 7-8mm and got a further 20mm left out of it, pushing the airbags a little harder but it still had a great ride.

    What shocks did you use?

    Question Springs

Are they Lovell Front Springs and if so what do you think of them?

I have 779 ARB which have sagged in 18 months (dam winch and steel B/Bar)and a thinking of changing them for heavy duty 50mm lift Lovell's.

    Cheers

Lovells HD 2" lift front springs, 2" aluminium spacers under the airbags, i extended the sensors by 45mm to match the ride height at the front (i may have to readjust this if the front settles in coming weeks). I used Lovells Gas Legend Shocks, fairly new on the market from what i understand, we'll see how they go. All up cost me $550. Great improvement compared to the origional suspension that came out after doing 165K!!

I have a steel TJM Winchbar, no winch yet. Yes they are Lovells (Part # RFR-32HD). I have an old set of 779 ARB springs here, they have 7,5 turns at 15mm thick, the Lovells have 7 turns at 16mm thick. Both for a 50mm lift. So not much in it.
Will be interesting to see how they hold up.
If you don't like the winch you could always give it to me?

so you actualy spaced the sensor up about 45mm? that would give you around 3-3.5 in of lift, the spacer kits normally come with a sensor spacer that spaces it up 28mm i think it was, that gives 2in lift because the sensor is around half way down the rear trailing arm. mine was about 35mm spaced and i got just under 70mm of lift from it.

    My hub to guard measurements were/are as follows;
    Front left 465/550
    Front right 480/550
    Rear left 470/560
    Rear right 475/550

I spaced the sensors to match the ride height the 2" lift front springs gave me. So yes almost 3" from what it was. I would expect this to settle a bit over the next few weeks. Should be interesting to see how much.
Does anyone know what the hub to guard measurement is on a stock Disco 2 out of the factory?

    Exclamation

Looks like you've done a good job on installing the new springs and shocks in the front and the spacers in the rear - well done!

What brand of shocks did you go for? It's best to check the rear suspension at full droop to see if your ABS lines or brake lines are going to be at their full stretch.

As for the front, if you haven't already tested it, longer shocks will cause the front driveshaft to hit the crossmember. Also watch out for max extension of ABS and brake lines.

Do you know what the standard Disco 2 hub to guard measurement is when new? My Disco is now riding 3" higher than it was and i am assuming that this is due to it having originally having sagged by 1" as i've only installed a 2" lift kit. From all the research i've done a 2" kit should not cause any problems with propshaft clearances and brake/abs lines? Please correct me if i'm wrong, this is'nt something i want to find out while out in the sticks

    Cheers, Phill

Are you able to supply me with the part numbers you ordered and the total cost of the springs and shocks ? Did you replace your bushes at the same time
I have an '02 Disco I am looking at upgrading the suspension on and have a winch bar + winch.
So far most companies look like costing around $1200 without fitting costs (which I will do myself)
