    Defender 110 Purchase Advice

    Hi All,

    Looking into a 2002 110 TD5 'Fender Wagon

    120,00kms.
    Full Service History
News Trans/Clutch (recently **** itself - replaced by gen Rover trans)Diffs done at 25,000km (under warr)
Easy life - no towing, farm work, no extended trips
Guys owns an Okka - so out mostly in that.
I know the owner personally - he's had Land Rovers since 1962! Looks after his trucks.

    $20,000 ish

    My questions:
    - Is this too many kms for a TD5?
    - What other dramas come up for Defender TD5's in that kms range?

Not a daily driver for me.

More for tyouring and as a School Outdoor Education support vehicle.

dude its a diesel..120,000 no prob.. and if the guy does look after his gear like you say then it seems a bargain to me.

    I bought a 02 110 Xtreme for 28000..
    I was happy paying that..

The 2002 and newer are the models s to go for, some of the problems of the early td5 where solved by then.

Some of my customers have done around 300.000km so this truck is barley run in.

20.000 a very reasonable price, i was prepared to pay that sort of money for a 96, 300 TDI back in march.

I paid $21K for my 2002 TD5 Defender 130 (last year) with 130,000Km on the clock. I reckon $20K is fair for the year/kms.

The only issue I have had is the fuel regulator at the rear of the engine had a leak and cost $300-400 to replace.

2002 onwards seem to be the ones to get, as said above, as the earlier ones had issues with plastic dowels and an oil pump bolt that wasn't loctited in properly.

    What accessories come with it?

Sounds like a pretty safe bet, especially as you know the guy personally.

    Buy it and enjoy it!

Yeah - I heard from my dealer that the bullbar and long range tanks from the 06 model and back do not fit onto the 07 models. Wonder what they have changed?
