    2.25D blowby?

Looking under the bonnet of gromit today I noticed a big black, oily stain originating from the rocker cover breather (big black plug thing).
The stain runs over the rocker cover and onto the side of the engine.

    What does this mean???
Will try to post pics on the weekend.

ps. set new load carrying record today: I took 385kgs of concrete to the tip. The poor LR was 'down by the stern' with that amount of weight in the back tub. Not bad for a 60hp shorty! Total weight (with a full tank of diesel) was 1.94t on the tips weighbridge.

Well, point one could be linked to point 2 - diesels behave a little differently under load. One of these days gromit might like a de-coke. I recently installed a new set of rings on my 300TDi (320K km) and the amount of carbon build up behind the rings and on the valves was amazing. Amazingly hard to remove too.
