    Clutch, ahhhh

G'day all, Sallyanne's clutch is on the go. On and off. At the moment its only offten but the clutch is slipping. In gear, foot down, and she'll start moving. No oil loss at the moment.

Now the master cylinder went at 1500kay mark replaced under warrenty.

But how can I diognose the drama, master cyl or slave cyl, with out hitting the mech yet?

    And how easy to replace?

    Thanks, Easo

    Hi Easo,

I would be rectifying it ASAP, as the Td5 clutch, when it slips can cause damage to the flywheel, which can't be machined. These are expensive to replace, I would try not to let it slip until you work out what the problem is.

    Gday Easo
I would try blanking off the master cylinder and give the clutch a push to see if there is movement. If this wont budge try the slave cylinder as well. That may work. If you are able to pull them off they are pretty basic internally. it could just be a build up of crap inside. just use water to clean out. When putting back together use a bit of brake fluid to lube the seals. Once taken push rod, spring and seals out check for scoring on the cylinder walls. It could be a case of the brake fluid bypassing the seals because of a score mark. A quick hone would fix this and new seals.

    Thanks
    Bazz

lurchs third is still going now.......just under 60,000kms......

the first and second only did 20,000 kms each......

if you cant get it resleeved........then just go to your nearest trailer place and buy a simple trailer brake master cylinder......
i think they are the same thing........but a lot cheaper because the box doesnt have that expensive green ink on it......

(gold leaf would have probably been cheaper........)
