    Diff breather leak Dii

Should there be any oil coming out of the rear diff breather on my Series 2 Discovery. Noticed about a table spoon of spillage from the breather hose. Never seen that before! Seems a reasonable enough amount to cause alarm!

Just keeping it alive.... Anyone have ANY Suggestions. Apparently it's a blocked breather but I dunno?

no an expert in this but seeing noone else is replying will offer something.

It's possible that somehow water has got into the diff and it is all frothing up and therefore coming out the breather. It would only take a quick removal of the filler plug to check if your oil is milky. If so you need to change it.

Not sure where the breather pipe exit on the D2 ends up - on a Disco 1 it finishes just up near the RHS chassis rail which isn't high enough if you're doing any serious wading - if it is like that on the D2 it might pay to extend it higher.

It does tend to suggest either a blocked breather - or as Wayne said - some water in the diff.

Easy fix, the diff breather - remove the diff end, and then flush it through from the opposite end

I would also suggest you drop the oil in the diff, for peace of mind sake - and if there is any water in there - flush it out well - using a flushing oil, before you refill.
