    Transfer case swap help please!

    Hey all,

I have a 94 classic with B/W transfer and the viscous coupling is locked solid again i have a LT230 in a wrecked 95 disco, Do the transfer cases easily unbolt from the auto's (ZF's) without taking the auto out, or is it just easier to swap the whole lot over, ive just had a new kickdown cable and an auto service done and my autos in good nick so i want to to keep it in there. or should i just try and find another viscous coupling? i know about having to modify the centre console for the lt230 also.

I have been told i should remove the front shaft as it will casue rapid wear, can i just leave it in the in the short term, i have replaced the tailshaft with a uni both ends style rather than the rotoflex aswell.

The viscus transfer will blow up if you run wrong matched tyres on the rangie...

But to answer your question... the LT230 will bolt straight in....

Nope leave the Auto in it and then fit the LT230 to your existing Auto...

    Bolt in...

Well turns out the sprag clutch blew up on thursday so the auto is rooted anyway, so i need to swap the whole lot, bugger too as i just got the new kickdown cable fitted and did and auto service, yes the front shaft is a different length too, not a problem for me as i have everything though.
