ZF thumps
The auto in my 300Tdi makes a slight 'thump' at about 42kph, very unlike the normal gear change. Happens hot, cold, up hill, down hill, hard acceleration, gentle acceleration, but not when the selector is in 3rd. Moving the lever from 3rd to 4th at speeds above 45kph results in an occasional thump. All other gear changes are fine. Oil is clear and smells sweet.
Any suggestions what might be causing the thump?

But its really the only thing that fits the bill.

Similar in a 300tdi, around 80-85k. No idea

It feels a bit like torque converter lock up, but that still happens correctly at a bit under 80kph. More accelerator after the thump results in increased engine revs without much speed increase, typical of the torque converter not being locked.
Its got me!
