    Defender fuel guage problem.

    Hi all,

I have come across my first malfunction in the fender!

When I turn on the ignition, the fuel guage needle moves up to near half full (which is roughly where it should be), then within a second or 2 moves back down to empty. Or sometimes it doesn't even move off empty. Anyone got any suggests about how I might fix this

    Cheers

    Sean

you could drain the tank so the guage reads correctly......

or maybe......look for a loose connection at the guage.....or at the sender.......

if you have a resistance wheel.....and a bit of knowledge.....you should be able to test the guage......

or.....with some multimeters......test the sender by seeing what readings the guage has to work with......

simply draining the tank will be quicker.......

Cannot help with a fix but for the short term fill the tank and zero the trip meter, I'm guessing you know how many k's to a tank you get
