It's running in.New parts often make metal then stop.Final drives on mining equipment have scarey amounts when new. Pat

Sounds like Pat has the answer.

If you get that at the next 10 thou, it maybe a worry.

SHims, Bearing cages, Bushings, Syncro assemlies and sometimes shift forks all need to wear in a bit so a little is fine but big chunks of metal I would worry about.

Mayby have a look at it in about 1 or 2 thou and see how it's going and maybe change the oil again to flush out as much as you can and keep a close ear on it for any tell tale signs of wear but it is pretty normal.

Tractor trans do the same but in most cases it is half a cup or so of filings in the bottom of the case and then none for 5000 hrs or so or until someone breaks something.

Did you buy a ready done magnetised plug of was it a DIY?
Either way I would be interested in where from or how.

I'm getting those at any oil change. A bit of wear is always encountered where moving parts of metal meet. So I don't think it's reason for concern, Inc.
