    is this correct

There's a sump plug for sale on Ebay, it says replacing sump plug every oil change! Is this correct?

    LAND ROVER SUMP PLUG.
    PART NUMBER : 1013938.
THIS IS A GENUINE PART WHICH SHOULD BE RENEWED EVERY OIL CHANGE DUE TO THE RUBBER 'O' RING SEAL WHICH IS NOT AVAILABLE SEPERATELY.
THIS WILL FIT ALL DISCOVERY 3 AND RANGE ROVER SPORT PETROL AND DIESEL MODELS.http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LAND-ROVER-SU...QQcmdZViewItem

If it is only an O ring then you can buy them in any size in about 4 different materials for different uses so I doubt you would have to change the whole thing.

But in saying that, I have never seen one so I cant really say as it may have a lip seal which does need to be changed each time you disturb it so could be true but it is a strange thing to have to change each service as they arnt really a wearing part unless you use the wrong tool to remove it like a chisle or a shifter.

I've re-used tha same sump plug for over 10 years on my TDi300, but I get a new copper washer every 2nd change. No rubber o-rings used at all.

Can't see the point of replacing it if the threads are not stripped or anything.

cant imagine a manufacturer making you replace the plug everytime, the cost would be phenominal, also if you were using a magnetic one you wouldn't be throwing them away everytime.

    Yes Guys,
U did read right. The service schedule on a D3/Sport is to replace the sump plug/washer as they are a single unit with the "O"ring being part of the plug.!!
They are also not that expensive, I didnt see the price being asked, but as said not that dear.

Repco stock the "O ring" seperately, but unfortunately you need to take it in initially to determine the correct size.
Sorry I cant remember the p/n as I was given a few free
