yes i posted without doing the correct reaserch before hand, i well know putting the wrong oil in desiels can casue a fair bit of trouble, take for example the new rodeo and navara/pathfinder deisels if the wrong oil is put in it affect injection timing and if the wrong oil is used for extended periods can casue injector and injection pump failures on late common rail engines. Holden has recently rejected many warranty claims on new rodeos customers had servcie at (no names - smaller shops), Nissan navara's are the same dont use the right oil and theyre known to casue problems, as said just becasue rating are the same doesnt mean alot, as long as it meets an industry standard within limits in fine for a consumer. All these are fine and well in anew engine, that has been serviced using the correct oil since new, i also think there is going to be a few TD5's going around with over 200ticks on them and i dont think they are going to be within the same tolerances as they were when new.
You can go put a 5w in a rattly old patrol which most have over 200now many reaching 450ticks, it'll be fine in the short term, but when you have ridiculous amounts of compression in a desiel and you have ****weak thin oil in it, every time the compression ignites the fuel it pound the cylinder into the side of the block, the oil will just be squeezed out of where it supposed to be protecting and be effectivly useless.
But then again, the customer is ALWAYS right.
