Hi:
Anyone know that best place to get a reconditioned/rebuilt MAF for a 3.9 Disco? I'm Based in the Middle East so shipping is a costly enterprise.

According to Blue Ribbon Motors (ex dealer) they have never had success with re-conditioned MAFs for D1s....and a new one is $1600!!!
They like aftermarket stuff when they can....but they reckon there are so many problems with the reco ones they steer clear.
Cheers
...Im having misfire problems under load and higher revs on both LPG and petrol on my 95 and Im about to have a FIRE sale....
I have replaced everything (literally) on the ignition side and my mechanic has spent ages on it now and reckons new MAF...but alas the MAF has no connection with the open loop LPG system (which checks out fine with a new converter) so thats just crap I reckon...so they are still looking!!!! They reckon the spark on the oscilloscope is fine, but I harbour concerns that my 18 month old lucas piece of -rap amp module is stuffed - only seems to play up after the car is warmed up.
Yep - I bloody love them despite the dramas (only just recently has it caused me problems though...245,000ks - and it only seems to be spark, but could be valve timing). My 02 has an amazing track record at 110,000.
Cheers
Sticking exhaust valve???
I cannot believe a mechanic cannot tell if a MAF is working.
There are many ways to tell. One is to test the mixture before and after disconnecting the MAF. It should go rich with the MAF disconnected.
This could be tested with an exhaust gas analyser or just a "Colourtune".

One cannot help but wonder how many "supposedly" crap MAFs could be "restored" with a good blast of liquid Electronic Contact Cleaner shot through the bypass tunnel?
thanks Phillip - your right and my post wasnt as clear as it could be..probably because Im over my 95 at the moment. It was checked on an exhaust gas analyzer and they found the MAF to be buggered and with the car defaulting to a very rich mixture. But my point is that the MAF on these will not effect running on LPG - either timing or mixture. That MAF was for mixture only on Petrol as I understand it, not timing....whereas my 02 the MAF effects timing also.
Cheers
