I am not sure of the specific details but a bocsh model as fitted to the Gen series holden (Chev v8s) also fit but you need the drive peg off the rover dist which does fit the chev dist.

Apparently this is a cost effective alternative - someone else may be able to give specific details.

i went to them to try to get the part i reall need for the dizzy and that was a simple rotor shaft retaining pin and they really didnt seem to happy to help me ,
ive not been able to track down the part anywhere else and so im reduced to getting a new/sh dizzy so s to fix the prob,

Sorry as I said I do not have specific details - I had a problem with the dissy in my disco and my local landrover specialist wanted to sell me the bosch but said the drive peg off my old dissy would be required.

A few years later when I was after a dizzy part at a local auto electrician, he suggested I ditch the rover dissy and put in the chevy dissy but the drive peg from the old dizzy would be needed. This was exactly the same information that the land rover guy gave me a few years earlier.

The same information from different qualified sources so would seem to have some basis to it.

this is a pain in the **** exercise....I have been going through it. The Mallory Unilite apparently fits in place of the existing electronic ignition Dizzy - using a photo electric pickup instead of Magnetic as in the stock lucas - but Mallory in Aust (a big dealer at least) seems to say one doesnt fit. Can I reccomend that you have a look at RPI Engineering's site in the UK (just google) - they sell a mallory that they say fits. The mallory's have their own amp from memory but RPI sells a dual curve one for LPG and petrol giving heaps of advance when needed on LPG for good performance.

The standard rover cap and rotor is crap and lasts about as long as a good fart - particularly with LPG you notice the quick degradation.

    Whats wrong with yours matey?

    Cheers

Try Performance ignitions in Nunawading Vic. They Mail order. They an build or modify dizzys. Might even be able to help with a part. Even can make stuff for vintage cars.
or if you are after a second hand what about britishoffroad in Forest Glen QLD, they also courier.

    Hay,

she was starting allright and all of a sudden didnt , we looked at the dizzy and the rotor had a bit of play more than 30" so we removed the pickup ( and when i say we i mean my mach mate, not really up with the discos!!,),
and we dicovered that the springs underneith had come astray, we conected them back up put the thing back together and she started no probs yhea ,

so we thought the thing was fixed, but i the morn she didnt.
we looked againe and discovered the rotor shaft was moving up and down he said it shouldnt so we did a little investergation and found that the rotor shaft retainging clip wasnt in place (where it had gorn we do not know!!!)
so i went to get one from the local land rover guys and thay said thay didnt have one, and ever since i havent been able to find one without haveing to buy the whole new / sh dizzy or at the least a clip

    cheers
