I would check ur brake light switch for the c contol, they are a common fault. Check the light r workin properly and that they extinguish properly, and that its not too sensitive. Let me know if they are I'll tell you my solution!

Failing that, perhaps a fuse is blown - does the diff lock light come on with the brakes? Some weird things happen if there is a blown fuse I've been told, as the power tries to re-direct itself to strange places!

I will have to have a look at the diflock wire at the weekend. The cruise control tries to enguage you can feel the surge then it drops out as if it gets turned off so the brake switch may be the problem. Where is the brake switch located and is it easy to change? The flashing light is intermitent as sometime comes on for a longer period.

On the D1, the brake switch is under the dash near the top of the pedal.

Has a plug & vacuum hose attached.

Assume D2 is the same????

open the cover under the steering column. The switch is "normaly on" ie the pedal lever holds it "off". Unplug it. Depress the pedal and turn the body 1/4 turn it will come out. It appears non-adjustable, but pull on the shaft and clickclickclick it comes out. While depressing the pedal, put it back and slowly let the pedal up to set the switch. If it hapens again it may be because the pedal has a little play and jumps "up" over bumps, pushin in the switch. Pedal goes back to normal place and switch is now "too sensitive". Solution? Take it out again, dismantle, fill ratchet with 5min araldite. re-install while glue wet, let pedal set position before glue sets, but don't drive car till glue has gone off.

Worked on mine!

Thanks for that i will try it. I noticed at the weekend that fuse 25 I think it was (it is a 15 amp fuse which I think may be for the brake light) has blown> I replaced it and it blew straight away. I have no brake lights and the electric brakes don't work would this be caused by the switch.

If it's blown straight away then you have a dead short, ie, a live 12V touching earth or bare metal somewhere. you're gonna have to start tracing wiring to find it. Your problems with your CDL light coming on would point to the loom above your transfer box being a good place to start, as mentioned before perhaps a stone has damaged some wiring or wiring vibrating against a sharp edge has exposed the copper.
Also check the more obvious things like the bulb holders in your brake lights, the wiring to your trailer/anderson connection etc for damage.
Good luck mate, be patient and methodical, you'll find the problem.

This was what happened to me - easy fix!

I found the problem it turns out to br the wire for the CDL. thanks to everyone for your help. I am thinking now it may have been a problem for a while now as i fixed the abs problem i had with a new wheel sensor but I was still getting the odd error popping up with the abs and the m/s. so i will see what happens
