Another alternator concern
Gday all,
When doing a little engine work to the freelander i found that the pulley on the alternator is continuously warm, bordering on hot to the touch. the car can be left over night, and first thing, stil lwarm.
I have a HUGE battery for a freelander, and it charges at 14.2 when first started. After the engine gets hot, the charge voltage drops, as usual, but not below ~13.5. Never had a starting issue.
the concern is what would be keeping it warm? a blown diode allowing current to run around the alt? it is held in place so all electrical energy would be converted to heat.....
Any thoughts?
